It’s 6 a.m. here in France, and we haven’t slept much tonight, let me tell you! Monsieur Fish and I sat watching with tears in our eyes as the new President Elect of the United States spoke in Chicago. The first elected U.S. president of Guppy’s life is, in my opinion, the first post-racial president to be elected.
I’d also alike to add that McCain’s concession speech was top notch. McWar has never found favour in my eyes, but I must say that he was very sport as we say in French.
I’m so freaking excited I can’t believe it! France is mobilized, there are parties and people in the streets everywhere, and tonight at 6 p.m. there is going to be a big to-do on Les Champs Elysées. WOOOOOOT!
For the first time in 8 years, I am proud to have an American passport.
I thought his speech was top notch too and I love this photo. Good choice.
Sarah, I totally agree with you in that McCain’s speech was written for him, by someone working for the Republican party, and who of course has the party’s best interests in mind. But let’s not be so naive as to think that Obama writes his speeches, or is a saint. If he wasn’t an ambitious politician (and that insinuates a great deal), he wouldn’t be president. I’m thrilled for the change and the promise of hope, but no matter how much I hope, the Democratic Party in the US is still a very conservative (when compared to the global political environment) group with a great deal of promises to keep – let’s keep our fingers crossed for Americans everywhere!
Magnanimity is nice but the the concession speech was completely political and self-protective. We must never forget the hateful and dangerous campaign that the Republicans ran, calling Obama the T word and inspiring crowds to yell “Kill him” at rallies. These tactics are the same used by Hitler and his brown shirts when the Wiemar Republic collapsed and are Utterly Unconscionable.
Thanks America. You did good. And President Obama, you are already the best thing that’s ever happened to the United States.
Ding dong the witch is dead…..
we can we can we can! i’ve been so happy i’m about to burst! it’s so wonderful to see others out there that share my joy…as the people in my town do not, it seems. americans finally, FINALLY made the right choice.
Yippee! Obama! I watched a French TV report last night on CSPAN and it’s so neat to see how other countries are excited for us. They were all like, “there may still be hope for America’s tattered image.” Yea! Even the Venezeula news report was favorable, and they hated us before.
As for McNasty’s speech, I thought it was okay. But the assholes in his audience that booed Obama pissed me off. What sore losers!
I admit I thought stay at home moms had it easy until I became one. I love being a mom, but it is tough. And we do not sit around doing nothing all day. Though that would be a nice change. There is never a dull moment. 🙂
I am so glad to feel proud about our new president and confident that he’ll lead us well. What a relief!
YAY for change!!
Everyone at the American school of Paris was sooo happy, we had a many people stay at school last night to watch the election.
I can’t stop pinching myself. Woohoooo!
